SMELLINGTON PIFF
Smellington Piff is a name synonymous with UK hip hop. Ever since his debut self-titled EP, his distinctive flows have been a staple part of the UK’s underground scene.
The rapper is based in Southwest England, but proudly adheres to his traveller roots as perhaps best demonstrated on his No Fixed Abode LP. Thanks in part to his Real Life Drama Records connections and his longstanding friendship and creative links with fellow UK artists Leaf Dog and BVA, Smellington Piff has become somewhat of a champion for the disenfranchised across the UK and beyond.
His roots in music stem back to his childhood, where he was catapulted into early fame thanks to his role as the “World’s Youngest DJ”, according to the Guiness World Records. He began DJing techno at the tender age of six, which earned him a reputation across the club scene, as well as further afield thanks to numerous TV appearances. This continued until his teens, when he eventually succumbed to the allure of hip hop, retired from the DJ circuit and turned his talents to writing bars.
Immersing himself in the world of boom bap, Piff quickly honed his skills as an MC and started releasing music, both as a solo artist and as part of numerous collaborations. Some of the most notable include releases with the likes of Son Doobie, Q Unique, Bizarre, The Four Owls, Verb T, Datkid and Farma G, as well as an abundance of tracks with regular cohorts, Leaf Dog and BVA.
His unwavering passion for the culture bleeds into his live shows too, which has garnered him a number of sets across Europe, where he performed in shows in Germany, Luxembourg, Austria, Switzerland and Belgium, as well as at legendary events closer to home, including Glastonbury, Boomtown, Nozstock and Boardmasters. On top of that, his support slots include sharing stages with a variety of well-known artists, including M.O.P, Ghostface Killah, DJ Premier, Vinnie Paz and Skinnyman.
With all of this already under his belt, as well as a collection of infamous solo releases, what does the future hold in store for Smellington Piff? His answer would be world domination, but en route to that we can expect to hear a lot more music. This year will see the release of his highly anticipated solo album on RLD Records. Roma Supreme will once again channel his free roaming energy, as well as further cementing his place as one of the most consistent artists at work in the UK today.
